FAYETTE, PA- In pool play on Friday, UC Clermont defeated Beaver, 3-0, and Rochester College defeated Penn State Fayette 3-1, in the first round of games. In Friday's night cap, Rochester College defeated Penn College 3-0 to advance to Saturday's Championship game. Ohio State Marion defeated Penn State Beaver 3-1 and were still in championship contention.
On Saturday, pool play wrapped up with Penn State Fayette defeating Penn College, 3-1 and UC Clermont defeating Ohio State Marion, 3-0, to advance to the Championship game.
In the Championship play, Penn College defeated Penn State Beaver, 3-0, to earn 5th place. Penn State Fayette defeated Ohio State Marion, 3-0, to earn 3rd Place.
In the Championship match, Rochester College won the first set, 25-13. However, UC Clermont challenged Lady Warriors in both the second and third set. Despite Rochester's 25-22 second set victory, UC Clermont was determined to put up a fight in the third set. Clermont held a 13-11 advantage, but Rochester showed its championship character, winning the match in dramatic fashion, 29-27.
Six players were named to the all tournament team: Lindsey Smith (Penn College), Jessica Zachariah (Ohio State Marion), Leah Ambrosini (Fayette), Rachel Hays (UC Clermont), Keri Teschler (Rochester College) and Nikki McKerracher (Rochester). McKerracher was named the MVP of the tournament.
