
Auburn Hills, Mich- The Lady Warriors played host to Siena Heights University Sunday, Dec. 18th at Oakland Christian High School. Rochester College came into the game with a 7-8 record and ranked 4th in the USCAA Coach's poll.
Sam Tomaschko (Romeo, MI/Romeo) came into the game leading the Warriors with 11.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Matching up against Tomaschko for the Saints was Nikki Hughes, coming in with 16.7 points per game.
The Warriors gained position off the opening tip-off, but fell behind to the Saints early 11-4. Rochester College climbed back into it with help from Ke'ala Ka'aikala's (Stanton, MI/Stanton) 7 first half points. Amanda Duke led the way for the Siena Heights with 11 points heading into the locker room, putting the Saints up 38-34.
The second half started with a back and forth battle. Rochester College got in foul trouble early in the half, leading to a Siena Heights advantage. The Saints shot 63 percent from the charity stripe. Siena Heights was able to hold the Warriors' Tomaschko to 11 points, in route to a 77-74 victory.
Ka'aikala led Rochester College with a game high 20 points. Lexy Newsom (Rochester Hills, MI/Adams) led the team with 9 assists and added 6 boards. Duke was high scorer for Siena Heights with 20 points.
Rochester College falls to 7-9 on the season.
