ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich.-- The Rochester College women's basketball team defeated the Albion College Britons by a final score of 76-61 last night at Oakland Christian High School. The game marked the final home game of the season and career of 2 Warrior seniors, Keearra Brown (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North HS) and Lissa Kowalewski (New Boston, Mich./Huron HS).
The Lady Warriors were ahead by fourteen going into the locker room at the end of the first half of a very up-tempo half by both teams. RC was able to pull ahead by nineteen with just over a minute left in the game, which was enough to earn their 12th win of the season.
Leading the way for the Lady Warriors was Maddy Valko (Marysville, Mich./St. Clair County Community College) who scored 22 points, 18 of those points coming from behind the three-point arc. Junior Bethany McCord (Warren, Mich./Saginaw Valley State University) ended her night with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Allyssa Copley (Holly, Mich./Cleveland State University) played a key factor in Rochester College's success last night with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
RC out shot the Britons 50.8% to 33.3% from the field and 36.8% to 11.1% from behind the three-point line.
The Lady Warriors are now 12-14 and are on a five game winning streak and look to continue that momentum as they will be on the road to take on St. Mary's College in Norte Dame, IN this Saturday, February 11th for a 3:00pm tip-off.
