ROCHESTER HILLS Mich.—The Rochester College baseball head coach Scott Kunert is pleased to announce the signings of Mark Gutierrez and Mario Scribner to the 2017 roster.

Gutierrez is a two-sport standout from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, MI.  As a Bear, Gutierrez lettered five times, twice for his effort in the swimming pool and three times for his outstanding work on the ball diamond. Last season as a junior, Gutierrez was named Division 1 All District Catcher, the Bear Award, and was named to the All-League Team.

Gutierrez played a key role in the Bear's success his junior year and helped lead them to becoming District Champions.

Not only does Gutierrez work hard on the field, but he also works hard in the classroom and has earned himself Academic Letters in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 school year.

Coach Kunert on Mark:

"I am very excited to have Mark on our team this fall. He is going to bring in some good talent both behind the plate and in our lineup. He comes from a great family and will fit in very well with our core values. With his strong work ethic, I am excited to see how far he will go in his time here."

  

Scribner will be joining the RC Warriors after completing his senior year and graduating from Oxford High School.  Scribner was also a two-sport athlete, playing both baseball and was on the swim team during his time as a Wildcat.

At the end of his junior season, Scribner had an impressive .66 ERA in league play.  With his outstanding performance on the mound, Scribner was award the Defense Player of the Year award.  He was also named as the Rookie of the Year by head coach Dave Herriah.

Mario comes from a very athletic household as his father played collegiate football at Grand Valley State University.

Mario is the son of Tim and Lisa Scribner and has two brothers, Chad Scribner and Chris Tantanella.

"We are extremely excited to have Mario join the Warrior baseball family. I think he has the opportunity to make an impact right away on the mound for us. He is a lefty with good stuff and is a great competitor. Not only that, but he is a good student and comes from a good family. I am excited to see how Mario can help us out this fall."
