
ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH.- The Rochester College men's and women's basketball teams did not upset the Warrior faithful tonight at Rochester High School. The Lady Warriors beat Spring Arbor University (1-1) by a final score of 45-29 while the men's team took care of Madonna University (0-1) by a final score of 73-50.
The Lady Warriors opened up the evening on fire as they took an early lead and never looked back. Junior Sam Tomaschko (Romeo, MI/Romeo) picked right up where she left off in last year's All American season by scoring 20 points and grabbing 19 rebounds.
The Lady Warriors went into half with a 28-11 lead and went on to win despite being outscored 18-17 in the second half.
The Lady Warriors play at home on Saturday against the University of Michigan- Dearborn at 1pm.
After a very exciting first game, the men's team maintained their undefeated record with a fast paced performance. The Warriors were led by junior Dramell Hogan (Novi, MI/Walled Lake Western) who accounted for 29 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Stephan Henning (Beloit, WI/Rochester) and junior Sean Mattia (Sterling Heights, MI/Sterling Heights) each scored 11 points while senior Ricky Doran (Clinton Twp., MI/Chippewa Valley) scored 8 points and tore down 12 rebounds.
The Warriors head to NCAA Division I Kent State on Monday to take on the Golden Flash. Game time is set for 7pm.
