
VERO BEACH, FL- The Rochester College Warrior's baseball team finished day one of the USCAA Invitational with a 11-0 win over the University of Miami Hamilton.
The Warriors came right out of the corner swinging when freshman Spenser McKee (Royal Oak, MI/Mariner) singled to center. Senior Alex Hacias (Sterling Heights, MI/Henry Ford II) drove him in with a two-out double to center. Freshman Luke Strobl (St. Clair Shores, MI/Lakeview) knocked in Hacias giving the Warriors a 3-0 lead after one.
Strobl came through again in the third with a single to score junior David Woodson (Vallejo, CA/Vallejo) who lead the inning off with a single.
In the top of sixth, the Warriors took advantage of the Harrier pitching miscues by reaching base on three walks. The Warriors would go on and score three runs in the inning before breaking the game open in the top of the eight scoring four runs on two hits lead by Strobl's two RBI bunt.
Junior Andrew Jarrell (1-0) (Walled Lake, MI/Central) kept the Harrier bats quite all day pitching six innings surrendering five hits, striking out three. The Warrior bullpen finished the game strong. Junior Fernando Delacruz (Sarasota, FL/Riverview), sophomore Ron Carter (Royal Oak, MI/Royal Oak), and freshman Austin Timmerman (Richmond, MI/Richmond) combined for a three inning shutout to close the game.
The Warriors take their 3-3 record into tomorrow's matchup againt Penn State University- Greater Allegheny (1-2) at 12:00pm and Penn State- Brandywine (0-0) at 3:00pm.
