ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH.- The Lady Warriors receive commitment from Naomi Yates.
Yates, a native of Georgia, brings several years of soccer experience to Rochester College. She has played for the Augusta Arsenal for four years, along with representing her high school teams. She played for Greenbrier High School her freshman year, and Grovetown High School as a sophomore. While at Grovetown, Yates helped her team win a regional championship, and was selected to the All-Area 1st Team. After being voted Team MVP, she transferred to Aquinas High School for her junior season. Yates suffered a season ending injury during the pre-season, but recovered quickly from surgery to compete at a high level for her club team and Aquinas in her senior year.
"She showed straightaway that she had played at a high level," Said Rochester College's Head Coach Todd Stank. "Naomi is confident on the ball, has great field vision and possesses a mature understanding of the game. She immediately fit in well with our current players, and will add depth to our competitiveness on the practice field and game pitch."
Yates is a highly touted recruit, receiving attention from schools all over the country. She received offers from the University of Minnesota, North Carolina, and Georgia.
"We consider ourselves fortunate to have been chosen by Naomi as the place for her continued academic and athletic pursuits. She will be a wonderful addition to our campus community, and a valuable addition to our women's soccer family," said Coach Stank. "With the strength of Naomi's play, I anticipate she will have an immediate and positive impact on our program."
