
ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH.- Austin Brunk (Macomb, MI./Dakota) pitched a beauty, lasting 7 innings, to split with Lourdes University today, April 10. The Warriors dropped game one of the double header 7-4, but came back strong to win game two 5-2.
Freshman Ryan Balazy (Fowlerville, MI./Fowlerville) got the start on the mound in game one for the Warriors. He pitched 4.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 earned runs. Balazy struck out 5 batters and walked 3. Alex Hacias (Sterling Heights, MI/Macomb CC) broke the ice for Rochester College's bats in the 6th inning, with a single to center field. Hacias went 1 for 2 at the plate. Carlos Zabaleta (Colonia, NJ/Sussex CC) went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs.
Jeremy Reynolds held Rochester College hitless into the 6th inning, only giving up 3 runs off of 2 hits. Lourdes' pitchers combined for 7 walks during the game. Jake Conklin led the Gray Wolves with 3 RBIs off of 2 for 3 at the plate. Andy Kefalos also went 2 for 3, with 2 runs and an RBI.
Rochester College dropped to 17-19 after losing game one 7-4.
Brunk pitched a full game in game two. He gave up only 2 runs off of 5 hits and struck out 4 batters. Senior captain Ryan Chipka (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) led the Warriors' bats, going 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs. Chipka brought 2 runs in with a double to right field in the bottom of the 2nd inning, and 2 more with a single to left in the fourth to bring in Lance Teeples (Flushing, MI/Flushing) and Austin Timmerman (Richmond, MI/Richmond). Eric Ramirez (San Antonia, TX/Catholic Central) went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the bottom of the second.
Kyle Vandecaveye picked up the loss on the mound for Lourdes University. He went 4 innings, giving up 5 runs off of 6 hits. Brandon D'Agnese led the Gray Wolves bats with 1 RBI and batted .500 for the game.
Rochester College moved to 18-19 with the victory. The Warriors will take on Concordia University tomorrow, April 11, at Concordia. First pitch is scheduled for 1PM.
