She had 615 career points, and 182 three-pointers over the past three seasons. Charney was named to the Blue Water Area Conference (BWAC) Honorable Mention 1st Team as a junior, and 1st Team as a senior. Her senior year she was named to the All-State Honorable Mention team, and was named the 16th best player in area. She was named 1st Team All Academic her junior and senior seasons. Charney was also a varsity softball and volleyball player at Yale High School. She was named the BWAC 1st Team as a senior, and recognized as the 11th best player in the area for volleyball.

"We are excited to have Sam Charney joining the program next season.  Her skills fit in perfectly with what we look for in the wing position in that she can really shoot the ball and has a very quick release with good footwork," Said Head Coach Eric Sims. "She had an excellent senior season at Yale and has played with and against some good AAU competition. She will have a very good career at Rochester and I look forward to coaching her."
