ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH.- The Warriors split a double header with Siena Heights University tonight, April 19, thanks to a walk-off homerun in game two by Carlos Zabaleta (Colonia, NJ/Sussex CC).

Johnny Barreto (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) got the start on the mound for Rochester College in game one, lasting 5 innings. He gave up 2 runs off of 10 hits. Austin Timmerman (Richmond, MI/Richmond) came in as relief in the sixth inning, surrendering 1 run off of 1 hit in 2 innings of work. Alex Hacias (Sterling Heights, MI/Macomb CC) led the Warrior bats going 3 for 3 with an RBI. David Woodson (Vallejo, CA/Vallejo) went 2 for 3 and scored 1 run.

Travis Mielcarek started for Siena Heights, only pitching 3 innings. He gave up 1 run off of 2 hits. Taylor Thelen and Jake Kret each pitched 2 innings in relief, giving up 2 hits apiece with no runs. Corey Caldwell batted in 1 run and went 3 for 3 at the plate. Chaz Poindexter and Brett Howard each had 1 RBI.

The Saints got off to a quick start in the top of the first with Todd Vandercook scoring on Howard's double. After two scoreless innings, Rochester College got on the board with a deep double from Hacias that brought Woodson around from second base. The tie was short lived though, as the Saints scored in the top of the fifth. Siena Heights put the game away with another run in the top of seventh off the bat of Caldwell that brought in Kyle Johnson. Rochester College dropped game one by a final of 3-1.

Caleb Tift (Auburn Hills, MI/Avondale) took the mound for game two of the double header. Tift pitched 4.1 innings, despite being hit by a batted ball twice. He gave up 4 runs off of 11 hits. He struck out 2 batters. Ryan Balazy (Fowlerville, MI/Fowlerville) finished the fifth inning, blanking the Saints. Ron Carter (Royal Oak, MI/Royal Oak) came in as relief in the sixth, surrendering 2 runs off of 2 hits. Andrew Jarrell (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake Northern) closed the game striking out 2 batters.

Timmerman and Hacias each led the Warriors with 2 RBIs. Ryan Chipka (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) and Ray Yesh (Dearborn, MI/Cabrini) both contributed RBIs off of sacrifice flies. Luke Strobl (St. Clair Shores, MI/Lakeview) went 4 for 4 with a double, and Woodson went 2 for 3 with a double of his own to center field. Zabaleta was 1 for 3 at the plate with a walk off homerun.

After both teams were blank in the first, Siena Heights opened the scoring in the top of the second with a single by Schwartz that brought in 2 runs. Chipka brought Lance Teeples (Flushing, MI/Flushing) in on a sacrifice fly ball to center field to put the Warriors on the board. The Saints increased their lead in the fourth, bringing around 3 runs. Robbie Schwartz doubled to center to bring in 2 runs. Kyle Benschoer brought 1 run in with a double to left field. Rochester College answered in the bottom of the fourth with two runs. The Warriors took the lead in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to a single by Hacias that brought Eric Ramirez (San Antonio, TX/Catholic Central) and Woodson in. Yesh and Timmerman each brought a run in with sacrifice flies. Down 7-6 going into the sixth inning, Abbott hit a 2 out double that brought 2 runs in. Andrew Jarrell held Siena Heights scoreless in the top of the seventh, keeping it an 8-7 game, in favor of the Saints. Strobl got the inning started with a double to left. Timmerman scored the run with a single to center. With two outs and the game tied at 8, Zabaleta came to the plate. After taking six pitches, and with a full count, he homered over the center field fence and into the parking lot for the walk off homerun. Rochester College won the game 9-8 and moves to 21-22 on the season.

Rochester College faces off against Ohio State- Lima on Sunday, April 22, at 2 PM. Come out and support the Warriors' seniors on senior day.
