SPRINGFIELD, IL.- Caleb Tifft (Auburn Hills, MI/Avondale) represented the Warriors in the annual USCAA Homerun Derby tonight, May 6. Pete Dayton of Robert Morris- Springfield defended his title from last year, hitting 6 over the fence.

Tifft was the third batter in the order for the Homerun Derby tonight. Andrew Baumgartner (Muskegon, MI/Muskegon CC) pitched for TIfft and Carlos Zabaleta (Colonia, NJ/Sussex CC) caught. Tifft started off with a couple of shallow fly balls and a line out before missing two pitches. He came close late in the round, hitting one to the wall, but came up just short.

Three batters tied with one homerun each in the first round to join Dayton, who hit 2, in the finals. Dayton just needed three homeruns in the finals to clinch the title. After a slow start, he found his stroke, hitting five of his six shots over the left field fence, and one to deep left center.

Rochester College opens up tournament play tomorrow night, May 7, at 6:30PM, against Penn State-Mont Alto.
