AUBURN HILLS, Mich.- On Tuesday, May 22, Rochester College Head Baseball Coach Jordan Ackerman announced the signing of Oakland Christian High School graduate, Jake Vandervennet.

Vandervennet joins the Warriors after playing under the guidance of OCHS Head Coach Brad Pyke. The 6'2", 220 lb. first baseman led the Lancers to a Michigan Independent Athletic Conference Championship by batting over .400. For his efforts, Vandervennet was selected as a First Team All-Conference selection and was also awarded First Team All-Conference Academic honors for his achievements in the classroom.

"Jake is the best defensive first baseman I have coached," said OCHS Head Coach Brad Pyke. "He has incredibly strong hands, he has a great attitude, and he is always working hard to get better."

Coach Ackerman on Vandervennet:

"I was excited when Jake decided on RC for his college education because I know he had some other options. I feel that Rochester is a fantastic fit for Jake spiritually, academically, and lastly, athletically. Jake has proven himself successful in the classroom and has been a force to reckon with on the baseball field. He has a big body and can hit the baseball for power to all directions. After spending time with some of our veterans, I can see Jake really becoming a feared hitter in the years to come."
